MTC Dropoff

Man this was a bitter sweet day.  One you know is coming for 18 years but you're just not quite prepared for.  How do you send your little boy out into the big old world without you? I love that he is so excited about it so it makes it easier but man I wish I could just keep all my babies under my roof forever but on the other hand I am so excited to see him grow and flourish as he learns life and helps people in such a Christlike way. 730 days to go!

We stopped by the store to grab last minute snacks.

We grabbed lunch at a pizza joint

Dad at a piece in honor of Aidan.

We then parked at a church to say our last minute goodbyes before we officially drop him off.

How do you say goodbye for two years?  Good thing we get to FaceTime each week

Elder Waite setting apart and week at home MTC

Aidan is such an amazing young man. He has a zest for life that is contagious.  He has a light that is contagious.  I am so proud to be his momma.  He decided to serve a mission and will be serving in Kobe Japan.  I am so excited for him and can't want to see how he changes and grows.

He got set apart as a missionary and it was just a sacred experience.  I am grateful for the example he is to his family and especially his younger brothers.

His first week as a missionary was at Home MTC.  It was a long and yet short week.  At night after all his classes, he would be getting ready to pack and leave our house for 2 years. One night Trev was able to teach him how to sew a button on his shirt....life lessons.

During his time off we would exercise and he would run with me.

And workout with his brothers

We were also able to go to the temple with him one last time.

We had an in n out lunch one day to get his fill since he wont be able to for the next two years.

Last day of packing...it was surreal and hard to believe

We needed the week with bowling

and going through his room and giving his brothers stuff he no longer wanted or needed

the day we were headed to Utah, he had his two buddies from birth come over for scripture study and to talk about life.  They will all be serving soon. Aidan is just the first to leave.

Aidan and I drove up to Utah by ourselves and it was a nice to have that time to talk and give him some advice before he goes and explores the great big world.  I just love this kid and will be praying he gets everything he can out of his mission....from the good and bad.  It will be the hardest thing he has done but you never grow from being comfortable or easy.

We met up with KK in Lehi for sushi.

And then we picked up Trev and his bothers from the airport that night so they could all be there to take Aidan to the MTC the next day.
