Machu Picchu Day 5

The second day was the hardest as far as the climbing.  We gained over 3000 feet in elevation and got to almost 14000 feet.  We climbed to dead woman’s pass.  It was beautiful as we climbed through forests….so many steps but the view was so worth it.  After the pass we climbed two hours down but didn’t quite make it before the rain hit us. The last 30 mins was an adventure of traversing down in a torrential down pour.  We were soaked but it made for some good adventures. The rain didn't last too long so we were be able to get out and walk around and eat dinner together.  We came up with some rap songs at dinner to explain the adventure of our hike so far.

Leaving our first camp site in the early morning

Hiking all the way to the top

Dead womans pass

The weather changes so fast and so it went from this to this in 5 minutes

It was crazy how fast this came on and how hard it came down
